10. Alienware M14Xz

1020 10 Best Laptops To Buy in 2011

This is considered to be one of the unique laptops out there because of the “Alien” concept it carries. Build is far comparable from its competition, displaying both the sturdiness beyond its material, lightness that is contrasting to its looks, and curves that can only be compared to extraterrestrial vessels and stealth crafts. Design is beyond what can be seen anywhere else in the world. It is actually like handling and buying something that is out of this world. Graphics are very crisp and clear, even though 1600×900 is not the best there is. Its fast processor can startup everything in only 45 seconds, even with no tweaking on startup options.

9. Samsung Series 9 NP900X3A

0919 10 Best Laptops To Buy in 2011

A very thin laptop that has all the goodies included, the Samsung Series 9 is a good choice of something small that is loaded with bigger specs, such as a powerful Intel Core i5, an 8GB memory, and a graphics unit that is worth the purchase and the combination. This is, in fact, one of those ultrathin laptops available in the industry. It may be comparable to the MacBook Air as it is small and light, but it falls short on the price as it is quite expensive for something that is not even at par with what the New MacBook Air can offer. It actually comes close even to the HDD space, being SSD, just like its Apple competitor.

Display: 13.3” TFT 1366 x 768 pixels
Storage: 128 GB Solid State Drive
Processor: Intel Core i5-2537M 1.4 GHz
Memory: 8GB DDR3 SDRAM – 1333 MHz

8. Lenovo ThinkPad X220

0820 10 Best Laptops To Buy in 2011

Even with the new and hardcore specs that are included in the new Lenovo ThinkPad X220, the same classic design has been used, keeping the concept consistent for both old and new ThinkPad customers. The battery life is considered as one of the longest lasting batteries there is for a Lenovo, and it’s included in this package. Even though the size may just be 12.5 inches, something smaller than expected, nevertheless, the performance it carries with its high calibre specs are more than promising to take note of. This Ultraportable laptop has everything included, both good for games and great multitasking office functions. Despite of its size, the keyboard is actually quite large, with enough space to make room for big and fast-gliding fingers. It would make you think that its classic body can carry a hardcore performing spec.

7. Dell XPS 15

0720 10 Best Laptops To Buy in 2011

One of the highlights of the Dell XPS 15 is its unique set of speakers that cannot be compared from others. Just imagine listening to music and even enjoying game sounds via built-in JBL speakers. It has become better than its predecessors are, because of the combination of an Nvidia graphics card, powered by a mighty quad-core i7. The battery is also notable for its long staying life, despite of a draining processor under its care. The 15.6 inch of wide and huge screen goodness has a back draw in it, making the whole laptop experience being bulky and heavy to carry.

Display: 15.6” 1366 x 768 pixels
Storage: 750GB 7,200rpm
Processor: Intel Quad Core i7-2630QM 2 GHz

6. Asus U41JF-A1

0620 10 Best Laptops To Buy in 2011

Despite that the specs it carries is far beyond the previous, comparing it to Alienware and others before it, the Asus U41JF-A1 has bagged the number 6 spot not because of the price or the its level of standard that would attract the masses, it’s all because of the consistency of its performance in all levels being met. It does not have the best specs, as there are others better than it, but it has stuck to its portfolio overall, expecting that people would be able to rely on a firm hardware and software dependence, no matter what happens.

Display: 14” 1366×768 pixels

0521 10 Best Laptops To Buy in 2011

The Toshiba Portege R835-P56X has a sharp design and performance that can be quite close as an alternative to the MacBook Pro. After all, who can mistake an Intel Core i5 with batteries that can almost last a full day of hard core multitasking, battery draining duties. The graphics can be considered as more user friendly than it used to be, however, it is not to be considered as good as other GPUs for hardcore gamers. Battery is noted to perform better this time around, as it got 3 more hours of additional life than the previous models.

1. MacBook Air

0120 10 Best Laptops To Buy in 2011

When it’s Apple, everyone has to love it, despite of the high-priced laptop with some specs that are even lower than its competitors are. The MacBook Air, particularly the summer 2011 release, has specs that are not expected to be carried by such a very extravagant laptop. Just imagine that you will be paying much higher than other laptops, but you will be surprised that 256GB of storage would be the max, and the graphics card is just as decent as others. The screen is sharp as it is expected to be, carrying a 1440×900 pixels, something a 13.3” laptop does not usually include. Battery is also revolutionary in this sort because of its advanced Lithium polymer material. You will also be surprised that it also sports a very unfamiliar Bluetooth 4.0, a very fast choice of transferring data from compatible devices.

Display: 13.3” LED 1440×900 pixels
Storage: 256 GB SSD
Processor: Intel Core i5-2557M 1.7GHz

#1 being a MAC….how biased. Knowing Apple, I bet that price tag is around $1,500-$2,000. I would recommend ASUS U36JC because of the specs and price:

    13.3″ HD (1366 x768) (LED) / i5-480M / 4G DDR3 / nVidia 310M 1G DDR3 + Intel GMA HD (Optimus Technology) / 500G 7200 / No Optical Drive (good or bad for some)/ Windows 7 Home Premium (64bit) / 802.11BGN / Bluetooth / VGA / HDMI / 1 USB 3.0 Port / 2 USB 2.0 Ports / 5-in-1 Card Reader / 0.3M Pixel / 8-cell 5600mAh / ALL for $749 on amazon. Boom. All the essentials.

The article is of the 10 best laptops. The Macbook Air has been rated the best for quite a while now. If you want cheap then go buy Asus. But if you want the best money can buy, you get a mac.

totally disagree.. having played with a Macbook it doesnt even compare to the Alienware. Any alienware computer is far superior to any mac. If your going to spend money for performance nothing is equal to an alienware computer. If you pay $2000 for an Alienware Mac has nothing equivlent for any price. A $2000 Macbook gets you an espensive computer equvlient to your a standard Windows Laptop for half the price. Macs are like clothes you pay more for the name.

If you want to brag about anything mac has, it’s the Mac only software it offers for muscians, writers, movie makers, cartoonists, and other artists. That is the ABSOLUTELY ONLY REASON TO BUY ANY MAC. If you just use photoshop, get a Windows based computer it will work far better.

I’m sorry but putting the overpriced CrApple Macbook Air is a joke. Apple is like Bose, much marketing, advertisements but the real product is to be honest, sh*t. I work with iMAC’s daily and I know what I;m talking about.

If Software companies can charge 1000 dollars for Softwares that we load over laptop then why can’t we pay few 100 dollars for a good Operating System that is part of MacBook.
Mac OSX is Reliable, no-nonsense OS.
OS that can run whole year without problems, System Hang and reboots.
