Also known as aeroplane, an airplane is a fixed-wing aircraft that was discovered by the Wright brothers. Airplanes are propelled forward through their propellers and jet engines and come in different sizes and wing configurations. They are used for the transportation of goods and people, in the military, for recreation and research. Though most airplanes are run by a pilot, there are airplanes today that are especially designed to be controlled by computers and remotes. According to history, the first artificial and self-propelled flying device was invented in 400BC by the Greeks.  These flying devices deviated from the airplanes of the 18^th century which featured fixed wings and separate systems for lift, propulsion and control. Modern airplanes have complex flight control systems and contain main controls that help the pilot in controlling the speed, altitude and direction of the flight.

Usually used to refer to a vehicle, vessel or machine that flies in the outer space, a spacecraft is used for a broad range of purposes, such as for communication, meteorology, navigation, planetary and exploration. This type of vehicle enters the space on a sub-orbital flight and normally gets into closed orbits revolving around the Earth or other celestial bodies. Spacecrafts can be used to carry people as crew or passengers while others use robots either for space probes or to support scientific research. By design, most orbital spacecrafts re enter the earth and get divided into non-winged space capsules or winged space planes. The first artificial satellite that was used to probe space was Sputnik 1 and it was launched by the Soviet Union into an elliptical low Earth orbit.

A computer is a device that can be programmed to perform different arithmetic and logical operations. This device consists of a processing element called as the central processing unit (CPU) and a memory. Its CPU is the component that executes the arithmetic and logic operations that are inputted in them. The first computers were electronic digital computers that were developed sometime between 1940 and 1945. These computers were about the size of a spacious room and consumed power that went as much as the power consumed by hundreds of modern personal computers today. Most of the computers that are known today are based on integrated circuits and are more than a billion times more capable than the earliest computers. They are small enough to fit mobile devices such as mobile phones and industrial robots. Also, they occupy just a small fraction of the space occupied by the first electronic digital computers.

An automobile or a car is a wheeled motor vehicle that is primarily used in the transportation of goods and people. It carries its own engine or motor and is designed to run on roads. A typical modern automobile has four wheels and has a seating for about one to eight people. It is estimated that today, the number of automobiles around the world today is about one billion and continues to increase rapidly, particularly in highly populated nations such as China and India. In 1672, the first steam-powered vehicle was designed and built by a man named Ferdinand Verbiest. An air conditioner is a major home appliance or mechanism that is especially designed to change the temperature and humidity of a closed area such as a room As its name suggests, it is basically used for cooling and it does this thru a process called refrigeration cycle, though in the cooling of buildings and motor vehicles, the process of evaporation is more common. In the field of construction, air conditioners come as a complete system that can be used for heating, ventilation as well as air conditioning. The concept of air conditioning was first use during the second century, when a Chinese inventor named Ding Huan of the Han Dynasty created a rotary fan to condition the air. This appliance contained seven wheels that were three meters each in diameter. The first electromechanical television system was patented in 1884 by a man named Paul Gootlieb Nipkow. This was just about four years after the concept of electrically powered transmission of television images was introduced in America as “telephonoscope.”

An annual sports event played in knee-deep mud, the Mud Bowl is a highly amusing sports event normally held at the Hog Coliseum in North Conway, N.H. This sport is also known as “the championships of mud football” and is commonly participated in by teams made up of clans and several grand marshals from New England. This international event is held in a “live aid” style of format and has been one of the most exciting street sports since its inception six years ago, especially in Australia. Australian golf enthusiasts participate in the annual Urban Golf Australia to raise thousands of dollars for several charities, particularly Father Chris Riley’s Youth Off the Streets Program. Every year, the Cardboard Tube Fighting League (CFTL) spearheads sports events that are based on cardboard tubes, of all sports equipment there are. The cardboard duelling event happens every year in several parts of the world, including San Francisco, California, Sydney, Australia and Seattle, Washington, above all. The cardboard tube events are held during summertime in public parks and encourage participants to crack down on fun over competition. Typically, this sports event is played by kids 6-12 years of age, though it has evolved into a popular informal game played by people of all ages in not-so-formal recreational settings such as playgrounds and barren lands. The normal number of balls used in an episode of a dodgeball game is three. Sometime in the past, however, the largest dodgeball game, which featured larger than life figures, was held in Manhattan, USA. 4. Dirty Dash

Dubbed as “the dirtiest race,” Dirty Dash is a race that lets people look at race events in a whole new dimension. It is a mud run obstacle course where, according to its organizers, “military boot camp meets your inner five-year fantasies.” Because of the backbreaking and grubby stunts involved in joining dirty dash, this all-fun event is said to transform boys into men, and men into swine. Participants, normally boys, race through a long, extremely dirty and exigent obstacle course until they finish the race stinking after dipping into a pit of mud. Every year, thousands of people come out to witness what is known today as the oddest sporting event in the upper Peninsula—the Outhouse Race. This race happens along the snow-covered Main Street and is held under changing themes every year. In this sports event, participants go on head-to-head races under different divisions, normally depending on their age and height. Watchers of this special festivity often shout out the names of their bets all throughout the competition, so it is always raucous right the way through the end. Invented by French artist Enki Bilal in a comic book that he once wrote, chess boxing requires players to be good at playing both chess and boxing at the same time, as this can be won either way. For a specified period of time, both players box at the boxing rink, then go down the rink to play chess. The first real sports event of its kind was organized in 2003 in Denmark, until its thrill has become viral among the people of Berlin, Germany and London, United States. Fondly known as the most taxing one-day survival ordeal in the world, the Tough Guy Competition is an extreme challenge that has never been finished by anyone since its first staging in 1987. Because of the tests involved in joining this arduous sports event, many people describe it as “the toughest race in the world.” It has been staged 25 times since 1987 and has suffered two fatalities throughout its history. Also known as Princess Toadstool during the first few Mario games, Princess Peach has been in the gaming franchise for so many years now that it is impossible for people not to know anything about her. He is already 33 years old, but the fire and desire of winning did not put him aback despite of trials that he had hurdle in the past.

9. The Incredible High-Jump

If you are amazed seeing an able-bodied athlete performing majestic and incredible routines in a high-jump competition, then, you could have been in awed if you have watched the different angles of high-jump that Paralympic athletes have shown during the Paralympics 2012. It was done on the first Saturday which they called as Super Saturday held at the Olympic Stadium. It’s more than a high-jump because it has triple jump, long jump, and high jump levels. Each athlete was given three opportunities or attempts to showcase on this competition, and would be graded based on the height of the beam. Imagine that most of them have to go through beyond the bar level in order to knock it off. Hence, they have to show off flawless and perfect jump which includes the run-up and a take-off. Its indeed breathtaking to see them jump to the air, calculating their balance, with their imbalance physical abilities, but they were able to do it.

Alex Zanardi has lost his legs in a traumatic and terrifying crash, but it did not terrify him anymore when he made a decision to divert his frustrations on positive things where he can make a difference, and show his talents. With the recent Paralympics 2012, he got his very dream, his ultimate triumph during the lifting of his hand cycle over his head. He represented Italy, and the world extends respect and salute for the job well-done and consistent efforts that he has made while undertaking this event. He got his Paralympic gold, and it was a wonderful comeback for him despite that it was a trial and effort practices, and competition for him.

7. The First Representatives of Haiti

Based on the reports and stories shared by most of the disabled persons living in Haiti, they were struggling to prove their worth and gain respect from their country mates because of their physical condition. Amidst the failed attempt to participate for the first in the 2008 Paralympics, at least in London Paralympics 2012, Haiti were able to send athletes who could compete over all other disabled-bodied athletes from other countries. They sent three athletes Nephtalie Jean Louis for wheelchair, Josue Cajuste, and Gayslie Leon. They may not bring a victory themselves, but it has boosted the confidence of all other physically challenged Haitians because of their positive amidst the persecutions, mockery, and social injustice that they receive from other people. It awakens everyone to support and love them because they can still show much beyond other able-bodied people can do.

She is better known as Hurricane Hannah because of the kind of energy and dominance that she has shown before getting and receiving her second gold medal after winning and defending her titles in 200m and T34 100m events. In fact, she has prepared herself well prior to the official opening of Paralympics 2012 by dying her plaited hair in red, blue, and white. She did not just nail the victory into her hands, but it was the first victory for British team. She has a different spirit who is very enthusiastic, positive, and full of spirit of really winning, and not just playing. She shunned of any negativity that other first time Paralympic athletes had when they first step-up on the game. She casted any doubts, but she just focused on her aim and goal to get victory into her hands, and she claimed the fame by proving her capacity, ability, and skills.

As long as the game has not yet came to its end, the hope for victory is still up and there. It’s the same desire and motivation that Mickey Bushell has shown that he has mustered it all until the last end of the race. It adds weight that the Paralympics was held in London which was the hometown and pride of the athletes from the Great Britain Team. Hence, it was an inspiring sight to behold that after a decade of trying, Mickey Bushell wins the game at the wheelchair sprint competition by bringing gold to his team, and his country. He is also known as a silver medalist when he participated in the 2008 Paralympics events, but this time around the wheelchair racer has assured the gold medal on his hands.

4. The Meeting of James Bond and Queen Elizabeth the II

This was a funny meeting that others have assumed that it’s for real. It will keep everyone smiles every time they recall the opening ceremony of the Paralympics 2012. When she arrived at this opening, she wears bright red earplugs wherein they made a wonderful show when actor Daniel Craig who played as James Bond met the Queen. It was just a cameo role, but in reality it did not happen. As she welcomed all Paralympic athletes from different countries with her presence, she extended her whole support because of a different introduction which was all crafted that made all spectators laugh.

She still feels the overwhelming experience that she and other Paralympic athletes had on the recent Paralympics 2012. Ellie Simmons is the talk of the town along with Sarah Storey because of a different kind of revelation that she had shown when she won for the first time at the S6 400m freestyle and receiving her first gold. She received another title of a national treasure because of the unbelievable results and performance that she has shown during the Paralympics 2012.
