Hence, the main objectives is to ensure that it would lead to the development of policies for the benefit of the organizations along with its standard, resolution to critical concerns or issues, assistance through analysis in achieving objectives, and coordination of efforts through global initiatives. For instance, for this year, the activities that they are going to hold should uphold 2012’s theme which is to promote global friendship and understanding.

5. Organizations that Work With ICAO

Aside from ICAO that does support the International Civil Aviation Day, it is also being supported by different members of the United Nations as well the International Maritime Organization, the International Telecommunication Union, the Word Meteorological Organization, and the Universal Postal Union. Nonetheless, there are also about 191 members coming from the states that are in full reinforcement in whatever plans that ICAO wants to implement.

4. Proclamation of UN Assembly

Aside from the formal establishment and declaration of International Civil Aviation Day in 1944, the United Nations also declared and recognized this day on December 07, 1996. Their declaration boosted and strengthened the yearly celebration, and the widest support that it can receive from the members of the United Nations. It became possible because of the leading proposal made by the government of Canada that resulted to observance of this day by all governments, wherein it became an official United Nations Day as well.

3. Global Observance

It’s true that it’s celebrated worldwide since it’s an international event, but it’s not a holiday, where people could take an off from work. It’s more of a global observance where people from different parts of the world participate, while leaders from different countries meet in order to discuss and of course respect the International Civil Aviation Day.

2. Active Participating Countries  

After the United Nations declared it as an International Civil Aviation Day, the 193 members of it are also in full support of global observance of this day like Canada, Mexico, Iran, Norway, Russian Federation, South Africa, Venezuela, United States of America, and other countries. The celebration of it still traced back in 1944 and not in 1996 declaration made by the United Nations.

It has olive branches to complete the whole logo that actually signifies peace and unity in order to achieve ICAO objectives, and purposes.
