Internet speeds of countries are measured by their average peak connection speeds, which represent the average of the maximum measured connection speeds of all the IP addresses registered in a particular region. Countries all over the world have different capacities in covering high-speed fibres and communication cables. These fibres and cables are primarily responsible in the transmission of communication signals and thus determine the range of connection speeds that a certain country can accommodate. Here is a list of the top 10 countries with the fastest internet connection based on their average peak connection speeds.

10. Singapore

Considered today as one of the richest tech hubs in the world, Singapore boasts of its average peak internet speed of 30.7 megabits per second, almost twice the global average peak internet speed of 15.09 megabits per second. The country currently has six internet service providers and over 300,000 broadband users. When the country launched the “Wireless@SG” program in 2006, its national internet access speed almost doubled to 1 megabit/second. Its fast internet speed is also buttressed by the nationwide ultra-high speed fibre network that it launched in 2010, dubbed as the “Next Generation Nationwide Broadband Network.”

9. Israel

A Middle East country, Israel has an average internet connection peak speed of 30.9 megabits per second and is one of the very few nations that have developed broadband capabilities that can reach up to 95% of its total population. Internet connection in this country is provided through the phone and cable infrastructures of two of its major communications companies, Bezeq and HOT. Bezeq is currently firming up plans of conducting a pilot of its new “fibre to the home” (FTTH) network in Israel, a fibre optic cable connection which can carry high-speed broadband services to both homes and businesses.

8. Bulgaria

With its broadband rate of 32.1 megabits per second, Bulgaria positions itself as having one of the fastest internet connections in the world. About 50% of its internet subscribers use the local area network (LAN) over any other type of access because of its speed and the variety of services that it offers to its subscribers. In 2004, the Asymmetric digital subscriber line (ADSL) was also introduced in Bulgaria along with the liberalization of its telecommunications market. This presages faster data transmission for the country in the near future.

7. Switzerland

This European country has one of the highest internet and broadband penetration rates in the continent and is currently has an average internet connection rate of 32.4 megabits per second, second to the United States that has an average peak internet speed of 29.6 megabits per second. xDSL technologies as well as satellite access and fibre channels in this country are not as popular as the ADSL and VDSL among home broadband subscribers, though businesses generally rely on these connections due to their affordability.

6. Belgium

When ADSL was first introduced in Belgium in 1999, its average internet connection soared to 32.7 megabits per second, making it one of the fastest internet countries in the world. Download speed in this country, particularly in its capital, Brussels, is between 5GB to 500GB per month and makes possible the downloading of a full movie within just a span of 5 minutes. The country also has cable networks with speeds varying from 100 megabit per second to 512 kilobits per second.

5. Czech Republic

Czech Republic has an internet connection average peak speed of 6.7 megabytes per second, one of the fastest in Europe. After the country had launched a good number of reasonably-priced ISPs in 2003, the number of internet subscribers in the country reached 300,000 by the end of 2007 and WISPs turned to have the greatest share of the internet access. With its average speed ranging from 1 to 120 megabits per second, cable internet is currently the most popular internet connection type among broadband subscribers in Czech Republic.

4. Ireland

The average internet speed in Ireland is 6.8 megabytes per second and is among the list of fastest internet countries in the world. Over 50% of its total population has access to its 70-100 megabits per second broadband service, while its at least 40 megabits per second broadband service is available to around 20% of its total population. Among the most popular broadband services available in this country are 3G technologies, DSL, fixed wireless and cable. Around 33.6 million or 77% of its population are internet users.

3. Romania

Though European country Romania’s average peak speed recently fell by 3.2%, it still manages to be among the countries with the fastest internet connectivity with its broadband speed of 32.5megabits per second, just a little behind South Korea. Nearly four million of its 7.8 million internet subscribers are broadband users and the number of domains registered under its name is now pegged at 340,000. Available through coaxial cable, broadband service remains the most preferred type of access in this country with speed ranging between 2 to 120 megabits per second.

2. South Korea

South Korea is among the very few Asian countries that are among the top list of countries with the fastest internet in the world. With its average peak internet connection of 48.8 megabits per second, this country is widely considered as the world leader in internet connectivity and speed. In terms of the number of DSL connections per head globally, South Korea is still the leading. Its ADSL network can provide speeds ranging between 2 to 8 megabits per second, though VDSL speed in Seoul and Incheon can reach up to 100 megabits per second.

1. Hong Kong

With its average peak internet speed of 54.1 megabits per second, internet connection in Hong Kong is often labelled as “blazing fast.” Downloading a full movie with this kind of speed can be completed in just a matter of four minutes. The fast broadband internet access that it provides has a speed that ranges between 10 to 1000 megabits per second and is made available through the broadband network infrastructures called “Fibre to the Building” and “Fibre to the Home” that both use optical fibres in communication.

He is the 59-year old CEO of Accenture since October 20, 2010, and started leading the company in 2011 of January. In fact, he has also accepted the position that William D. Green held as a chairman of the board after he resigned from last February 01, 2013. He has been working in Accenture for 30 years now, and this is one of the obvious reasons why he is well favored by the employees of the company because he knows how he works with various people. He has served different clients from insurance industries down to banking.

9. Richard K. Davis, U.S. Bank (95% Approve)

The 54-year old businessman from America continually serves the U.S. Bancorp even before it had it successful merging in 2001 with Firstar, where it had merged too from the original company where he started working as a teller, which was the Star Banc Corporation. Would you imagine that he had a humble beginning as an employee when he was 18 years old? In 2004, he assumed the Chief Operating Officer until 2006, and also worked as the President in those years. In 2007, he became the Chairman of the Board, Executive Vice President, and now serving as its Chairman, President, and CEO. He was even cited as one of the highest-paid bank CEOs.

8. Paul E. Jacobs, QUALCOMM (95% Approve)

A Jewish race leads successfully Qualcomm, but he did not achieve his current position as the CEO and Chairman of the Board of the company in a wink of an eye. He worked hard for it when he finished Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, in 1984, and in 1986 he earned an M.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering and Ph.D. in the same courses at the University of California, Berkeley in 1989. He has been working at Qualcomm since 1990, and he began as an engineer of the wireless technology development, and growth came in his career. After 15 years, he was chosen as the new CEO of it. Based on the feedback provided by different employees from different countries, some of the things that they have noted from him are how he walks the talk, great intern treatment, his being a great manager, and his welcoming attitude towards employees.

7. Joe Tucci, EMC (96% Approve)

Before Joe Tucci joined EMC in 2001 of January, he has honed his leadership skills in different companies, where he has left remarkable contributions like in Wang Global as its CEO, Paychex, Inc., and Deputy CEO of Getronics N.V. In fact, under his care, he made EMC as the top provider of data storage solution not just in limited areas in the U.S., but across the globe. Moreover, with his first 9 years in the company he has exerted his efforts making Boston on the technology map through the acquisition strategies that he made. He established a dramatic transition of the company by sustaining the double-digit development and market share gains. Employees love him because of his humble and cheerful nature not just as a person, but especially towards customers. He believes that customers must be the top priority, and he sees himself as a least to attend to. He compliments those people who are progressing and contributing, and that’s why workers of the company are inspired and motivated.

6. Frank D’Souza, Cognizant Technology Solutions (96% Approve)

He is one of the youngest CEOs in the business world just like Mark Zuckerberg. He is a 38-year old CEO and President of Cognizant Technology Solutions since January 1, 2007, being raised in Nairobi, India. He is also appointed as a GE director in February this year, and everyone in the board believed that his expertise of 20 years in the information technology would contribute to the kind of perspective that they also expect. Moreover, he also serves as the U.S. India Business Council Director. His efforts of finishing Bachelor of Business Administration at the University of East Asia and a Master’s Degree with the same course at Carnegie Mellon University have prepared him with his current leadership roles in the company. The recognitions that he received previously as an employer are undeniable tangible evidences that he is a well-loved boss.

5. John E. Schlifske, Northwestern Mutual (96% Approve)

In order for John E. Schlifske to reach his success in Northwestern Mutual, he made sure that he would excel in his function as an investment specialist, which made him climb the career ladder in a steady pace. He later led the retail broker-dealer team, became the CEO of Northwestern Mutual’s subsidiary company, and later achieved the career climax by being CEO and Chairman of the business in 2010. The company is basically structured in its professional undertakings, which pretty much explains how Northwestern Mutual treats its workers. Understanding dreams, aspirations, goals, and even problems is a skill set that is applied to both customers and to employees. Also, the attitude of teamwork is greatly expressed with the overall success of every department. There is also a drive of helping everyone learn new things, while becoming adaptive to modern needs and circumstances.

4. Jim Turley, Ernst & Young (96% Approve)

Jim Turley, just like anyone else in this list, has worked with the company for as long as anyone could remember. He started small back in 1977 and has never left Ernst & Young ever since, making him the current Chairman and CEO. He would be retiring in June 2013, reaching his 36 years in the business. So what made Jim stay so long? First of all, it is a place where learning is at its best, all thanks to a conducive environment that’s teeming with good-natured people. The salary also pays well, and the benefits would perfectly compensate for the tasks being done on longer working hours. The workforce is generally motivated, making you also just as motivated and energized.

3. Dominic Barton, McKinsey & Company (97% Approve)

Before Dominic Barton worked at McKinsey, he started his career as a currency analyst in the British multinational investment banking company, N M Rothschild & Sons Limited. But in as early as 1986, he entered McKinsey & Company, and did not have an easy time becoming a partner for the company. Due to being rejected over three times, it has been his pledge to raise the bar for his own, even beyond what McKinsey would demand of its employees. Due to his efforts of making it to the top, even being called as Worldwide Managing Director, he made sure that every employee working here would feel their worth with life-work balance that’s kept at a standard level, and that they are respected for their work and their opinion.

2. Bill McDermott & Jim Hagemann Snabe, SAP (99% Approve)

SAP is known to be one of the greatest competitors against Oracle for being a developer of software solutions for businesses, enterprises, and companies. Due to its drive of being the best, SAP also sees to it that their employees feel working in the best company there is in the industry. What’s a free lunch, motivating trainers, and compensation packages that would drive you to bring out your best? They are just inclusions of the thing that matters most, which is constant learning and career development. The environment is actually family-friendly, and people from different departments are bred with great in-business culture that cannot be found anywhere else. Technology is also at its peak, especially since there are technologies are only used within. Just as Bill McDermott & Jim Hagemann Snabe are, SAP is a place where people are valuable and are placed in the highest priority.

1. Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook (99% Approve)

Mark Zuckerberg’s mentality about working in Facebook is strongly associated with its objective, which is to make the world more open and connected. This aspiration can not only be seen as it is in front of the computer screens, but it is also apparent with the working relationship of all employees, regardless of position and function. Mark Zuckerberg is a kind of boss that thinks almost the same as his workers. What he looks for in people is their ability to find huge problems and fixing them just as fast. Personal preference does not matter much, but what matters is their capability to do things. He looks at mistakes as an opportunity for growth, and he encourages people, whether big or small, to speak up their minds, be bold, and learn how to take risks. But more importantly, he teaches his people to be open through interaction and understanding. Who would not like to work in a company that has such amazing ethics and outlook?

Storytelling is a bed time experience that everyone practiced since time immemorial. It never ceases to tickle and amaze children’s imagination as they listen to their favorite fairy tale. With the passage of time, these fairy tales can now be viewed in the wide screen, whether it is animation or live or a combination of both, to allow the children to see their imagination come alive reinforcing the belief that indeed, ‘legends never die.’ In line with the “Tell a Fairy Tale Day” being celebrated today, February 26, here is a list of the top 10 fairy tale movies of all time that everyone loves, which started “Once upon a time.”

10. Harry Potter Series

Though these were not exactly bedtime stories as it were based on the novel by JK Rowling, the series has brought back the dying market of children’s fiction. Though the story does not have fairies, the magical story of Harry Potter takes you around his quests to conquer Lord Voldemort, who threatened not only the magical world but the non-magical world as well. The highest-grossing film series of all time also catapulted the commercial success of the books and other related merchandise. Though its theme of death, corruption and prejudice may be different from other fairy tale movies, in the end they all share the moral truth of all the folklores and legends that the good always triumph in the end.

9. The Chronicles of Narnia

The movie adaptation of the same title by the CS Lewis follows the adventures of four Pevensie siblings as they ventured into a magical world with mythical characters in a battle that is the parallel world of their own. Though some critics would say that it is better to read the seven novels to allow your imagination to explore, the three movies including “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,” “Prince Caspian” and “The Voyage of the Dawn Treader,” which were released in 2005, 2008, and 2010 respectively, were all commercial success with “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” as the 22nd highest-grossing film series of all time. They also gained critical success for the daring of bringing the journey that spanned in generations to life, which feel both comfortingly familiar and exciting while communicating some moral truths.

8. Tangled (Rapunzel)

The film, which was originally titled as “Rapunzel,” took six years to finish and was considered as the most expensive animated film ever with an estimated budget of $260 million. The 2nd most expensive film of all time employed both computer-generated imagery (CGI) and the traditional animation with non-photorealistic rendering creating the impression of a painting. Slightly veering away from the German folklore published by the Brothers Grimm, it chronicled the adventures of Rapunzel and Flynn as they tricked Gothel into a three-day round trip travel in search of a special paint and in following their dreams.

7. Sleeping Beauty

Also known as the “Little Briar Rose” from the classics by the Brothers Grimm, this is the last animated film produced by Walt Disney that was released in theatres in 1959 until Disney’s death, following the release of “The Little Mermaid” in 1989. Before the animation production began, the film was shot in a live-action reference version using live actors posing as characters and models for the animators. Sleeping Beauty tells the story of the young princess Aurora who was cursed by an evil fairy godmother to fall asleep along with the inhabitants of the castle on her 16th birthday, only to be awakened with the first love’s kiss.

6. Aladdin (and the Magic Lamp)

Who could ever forget Princess Jasmin and Aladdin singing “A Whole New World” while having a magic carpet ride with Abu, Aladdin’s kleptomaniac monkey? A part of the Disney Classics series called Disney Renaissance; it was based on the Arabian folklore “One Thousand and One Nights.” Since the moral message of the original tale was inappropriate, the filmmakers ‘put a spin on it’ by showing that though the fulfillment of wishes can be a good thing, it can also caused problems. It also tackled the theme of duplicity, where Jasmin and Aladdin pretended to be the persons they were not; and being ‘imprisoned’ with Jasmin and Aladdin trapped to their lifestyles, the Genie to its lamp, etc. The film became the highest grossing film of 1992 and has won numerous awards mostly for its soundtrack.

5. Little Mermaid

Though the animated musical fantasy film produced by Walt Disney in 1989 has been loosely based on the original fairy tale done by Hans Christian Andersen, it veered away from its tragic ending as ‘Ariel,’ the mermaid princess got her prince and did not turn into a sea foam in the end. The last Disney film to use the traditional hand-painted cel method of animation, it boasts of good character designs and beautiful musical scoring, where some songs even become hugely popular. The film was credited for breathing a life back into the dying Disney animated feature films, which ceased production after some commercial failures in the 1960s. It also marked the Disney Renaissance following the success of “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” in 1988.

4. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

This film has many prequels and sequels and was the first animated film produced by Walt Disney. The story of the queen who was so obsessed with beauty, a distress princess, and her dwarf friends has been told in different characters’ point of view, which tells that evil will never triumph. This famous fairy tale is a must-read if not a must-watch for every child before they grow old and as a good lesson to not to accept gift or candies from strangers.

3. Peter Pan

For those who never want to grow up, this fairy tale is for you. Feature in both animation and live action films, Peter Pan reminds grow up to never let go of childish adventures despite the miseries in life. It also brings back happy childhood memories where your backyard is the forest where you fought off your pirate friends, come home for dinner, and fight again another day with your made-up swords in your made-up costumes. Though the first animated “Peter Plan” film was produced by the Walt Disney in 1953, it was the 2003 movie released by Universal Pictures, which gained commercial success as the first live-action sound film based on the play.

2. Beauty and the Beast

This tale has garnered a number of adaptations not only in screen but in other media as well like television, prose and the stage. However, the most notable adaptation so far was the animated film produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation in 1991, which became a commercial success, as it comes with beautiful musical scoring. The only animated film to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture, it tells that ‘beauty is not just skin deep’ and love can melt even a tyrannical beast’s heart with the help of singing teapots and other palace furniture. The movie also gained critical recognition for having the best writers, filmmakers, and musicians gathered together to produce a great family entertainment for the whole family in healthier Hollywood tradition.

1. Cinderella

Cinderella is the top fairy tale that has many spin-offs with thousands of variants known throughout the world in many languages. It is an epitome of real-life ‘rags-to-riches’ stories and that the good always triumph in the end. For women, it is for them to never lose hope that their prince will someday come even without the help of their fairy godmother. It also tells that perseverance, kindness, patience and other important virtues are more important than wealth. The twelfth animated movie from the Walt Disney Classic series released on February 15, 1950, it became hugely popular with its soundtrack including “A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes,” “Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo,” and more.

It has been a couple of months already since Korean rapper and singer Psy shook the world with his Gangnam Style. But who would have thought that there will be a trend that is just as viral, coming from the US, in such a short time? Thanks to Bauuer for creating the Harlem Shake music, people from all over the world is feeling the insanity, the funny, and the uncanny all over again, despite of not dancing horse style. Harlem style is so American that you do not need to memorize dance steps just to be cool, where the only thing you need to do is to bring your friends along and shake like you don’t care. Just what are the top 10 best Harlem Shake videos that you just had to see? Check this list out and maybe you could even create your very own! After all, it’s just easy.

10. The Original

Even though the said video has been titled as the original Harlem Shake, many of its viewers are actually contesting as there are some elements that have been disregarded, such as the solo shaking guy on the first half of the video, the numb reaction of friends, and of course, the sheer randomness on the second half. Despite the disputes however, the video with an alien, a pink person, Red Ranger, and a Japanese con man still received views of over 17.56 million views as of February 22.

9. TSCS Original

These five guys all stuffed up in a small room may be a perfect setting for Harlem Shake, especially as it would test their imagination on what kinds of random moves they will do to make the explosion amazing. With all sincerity of the act, many of the elements have been kept, except for the part where everything slows down at the last 2 seconds of the video. Impressive? Some say that this is still the best due to the shaking part, which others have unconsciously observed…

8. The Best Harlem Shake Ever?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4vqnSwTXAAc

At first glance, you may wonder why the washing machine is on the thumbnail of the video… only to realize that it would be the one to do the Harlem Shake. Which comes to the question, “how can a washing machine shake like those crazies on YouTube?” being asked. Well, insane enough, you could obviously see that the appliance is about to break as it’s smoking while spinning the washer. But putting a brick in the washer? Wow! That just blew things up, literally. Good thing nothing blew up though.

7. Version 2

This group already gathers together in the room every Saturday, even before this craze went out. But for curiosity and fun’s sake, they have tried to do the dance anyway. With a bigger room, wider space, and more people, the version 2 of Harlem Shake expects crazier stints and shakes, unlike the TSCS original which was too tight to begin with. And as anticipated, the shake is just crazier with the handstand, moving the gaming chair, and the shakers on the bed and on the sofa.

6. Firefighter Edition

Three firefighters and the tightest of space does limit imagination of what can be done for a perfect Harlem Shake. A dancing firefighter may already be enough to satisfy the craving, which would be a bit better with the two others shaking after the first half of the dance. However, you may be as surprised as most people are, not expecting the two visitors that would come Harlem Shaking. Just who are they? Check the video out and laugh hard.

5. SeaWorld San Antonio

SeaWorld seems to have a very good ad campaign of their attractions now being open. And their tool of choice? Three sanitation engineers cleaning the animal stage in between shows. Well, not exactly. Though the first half may be a bore, you will just laugh on the next 15 seconds where trainers, two California sea lions and a walrus join in the shaking.

4. Matt and Kim Edition

This version is one of those Harlem Shake videos that would just keep you guessing especially that it is performed on stage with an empty gym. Though you may anticipate that a crowd will be shaking on the space in the middle, the lights, the jumping, and the energy is just too overrated for a group shake ey!

3. Office Edition

Workers inside Maker Studios actually consented on this 30-second mayhem that all of them found within the huge office area have agreed on performing the crazy dance. As expected, everything begins with the helmet guy doing the shake while everyone else seem too preoccupied on their workstations to even notice the dance. But heck, 14 seconds after, everyone went insane with a dancing gorilla on the table, a fellow punching the stuffed giraffe repeatedly, the handstands, and the shaking guy on the lower right corner of the screen!

2. Portland Edition

Before you even watch this version, it is advised that you set this in 720p in order to appreciate the randomness that waits at the second half of the Harlem Shake video. Oh, and you may even check it out on full-screen for all the details that you need to see. Anyways, knowing that there are so many people on the background means that something explosive is about to happen… Just wished they hid on the first 15 seconds though. The werehorse, the huge head, the box robot, alien, fitness balls, are just so funny. By the way, did you know that MJ has a cameo role in this stint?

1. UGA Men’s Swim and Dive Team

You could easily do Harlem Shake on land. In fact, you could do it almost everywhere, at any occasion. But the men’s swimming and diving team of the University of Georgia thought of something unique and funny that cannot be easily overthrown or conquered. Since these guys are adept underwater, they can do everything they want deep in the pool and not suffering much from short breath. Even with the intro, the Stormtrooper is already showing its stuff, which became even funnier when his buddies showed up with a parking cone, sleeping bag, broom, kid-sized basketball ring and board, and even a gas hose?!

Before social networking sites became a hit online, people are already sociable. Even in the early days of human existence, communication, being one with neighbors, and extending helping hands were all part of social interaction. The only difference that we can see from before and today is the development of technology. The evolution of Friendster, Facebook, and of course, the growing members of Twitter that serves as an avenue to update our friends about our statuses, feelings, and building camaraderie with other people, truly builds friendship and association. Moreover, much of the celebrities, singers, and other high-profile people use Twitter instead of Facebook. In fact, it becomes a channel for fans to follow their idols. Recently, the newest update has been released about the newest most followed persons on Twitter. Who are the celebrities? Let’s find out the top 10 celebrities with the most Twitter followers, and what they have done to get so much attention across the globe.

10. Kim Kardashian

Through the help of the Twitter counter, the followers of Kim Kardashian are increasing. In fact, the tracking has been up since 2009. As of January 23, she got 2,627 new followers and placed her to the 10th spot in the Twitter world. Based on the statistics issued, her total followers reached to 17,241,607 while her total tweets of 14, 531, but she only follows 129.

9. Shakira

The attention of social media gets unto her because she already gave birth to a healthy baby boy to her boyfriend, Gerard Pique, on January 22, 2013 in Barcelona, Spain, wherein she made that announcement via her Twitter. Moreover, it has boosted the curiosity of others to follow her after she gave birth that made her to the 9th rank because of the 19,454,089, while just following 72.

8. YouTube

This is the only social media that has been included on this top 10 list of celebrities that have gained followings. With its 22, 279,641 followers, 6807 tweets, and 435 following, it’s pretty obvious that the power of social sites like YouTube has increased tremendously. In fact, it becomes an avenue as well to earn, to advertise, and of course, get into the ladder of success and limelight like Justin Beiber who has only uploaded his video, and became an instant celebrity and heartthrob.

7. Taylor Swift

She possesses one of the most beautiful faces in the music industry, and her seemingly sweet aura is really inviting to her fans. In fact, majority of her fanatic followers on Twitter are teenagers. You could see tons of Twitter accounts that have been created by her devotees. Amidst the negative articles written about her being a “playgirl” and a user, she still maintains her popularity in most of the social networking sites especially on Twitter, where she has 23,233,456 followers, while following only 87 people. It’s safe to say that she’s also active with her tweets of 1,641.

6. Britney Spears

The 31-year old singer and mom is under the heat of controversy right now after her split with Jason Trawick and followed by her loose fitting dress. She might be ringless right now, but definitely her 23,392,392 followers are sufficient boosters for her that many love her despite of her ups and down in life. She has reciprocated that confidence by following 411,796 of them and making a total tweets of 2, 230. It indicates that she finds time to extend gratitude to those people who believe her through Twitter.

5. Barrack Obama

Last Monday, January 21, 2013, President Barrack Obama finally made his second vow as he stood again before the people of America, where he promised to serve them for second time around as the US President. No wonder, why there was a sudden increase of Twitter followers during the inauguration and after. Although, his Twitter account is being managed by his staff, and it’s not really his personal account, it got 26,226,291 Twitter followers and it follows 666,859 people and groups. It’s very evident that it’s very active because of its 8,372 tweets.

4. Rihanna

Photo Source: http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/entertainment/rihanna-and-her-attacker-chris-brown-connect-with-each-other-on-twitter/story-e6frewyr-1226056253266

She caught the heart of her millions of fans because of her voice, although she received a criticism from Lena Dunham, which has been one of the topics in social media sites. She told how Rihanna is a bad example to the youth for being reunited to Chris Brown. If we will recall this couple’s relationship that begun during the recent years, a split and legal case put a division between the two after Chris Brown allegedly physically abused the singer. Nonetheless, she still manages to receive followers on Twitter, where it has reached 27,966,096, and she uses this actively to promote her album, as seen in her 7,343 tweets while following 910 people.

3. Katy Perry

She just came back from President Obama’s inauguration, but people who have seen her picture without her boyfriend, John Mayer, were already in suspicions if something happened between the two of them. None could really predict since everyone saw the two attended the second pledge of the US President, but definitely, everyone would be watching on her Twitter, especially now that she has 31,525,489 followers that placed her to the 3rd most followed celebrity on this site. She’s kind of active too because of her 4,485 tweets while following 118 people which are not bad at all.

2. Lady Gaga

She held the title as the Queen of Twitter for over two years, and with the recent Twitter counter, Justin Bieber took that spot by surpassing her number of followers. She has 33,364,593 while following 136,632 and keeping 2,593 active tweets in her account. She’s getting too much attention not just on the way she dressed differently from other singers, but because of the songs that she writes, and has written.

1. Justin Bieber

Last year, Justin Bieber’s YouTube video that got the most views has been snatched away from him because of the instant craze and sensation that Psy brought to the world because of Gangnam Style. Now, he has snatched from the Mother Monster, Lady Gaga, that title, when he reached 33,386,249 followers, and you could see that he’s very active on this social media site because he’s the only celebrity on this list that made total tweets of 20,545 while following 123,843. It could be the effect of his separation to her girlfriend, Selena Gomez, that has thrown criticisms and bashing on Twitter.

One thing that is quite unique with technology these days is that it keeps itself updated year after year. We have seen the battle between the iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy SIII and Note 2. Will the same war wage for 2013? Are there new technologies and innovations that will be introduced in this coming year? With the news that are coming out of what to expect with the developments of computers and gadgets, you may not be able to grasp it all. So without further adieu, here are the top 10 tech predictions of 2013, making sure that you become as updated as most people are.

10. The War Wages On

Google, Apple, and Microsoft have already begun the fight for digital supremacy whether it involved the sphere of operating systems, multiple device support, smartphones, applications, and tablets just recently. The competition shows no signs of stopping and we will yet see another war between the three tech giants.

9. Smart TVs Will Become Smarter

Sony and Samsung, among many other competitors are making an edge with Smart TV that unified TV-watching with internet browsing by having WiFi sensors on the TV, which provides a whole new dimension to using HDTVs. And since this is a developing market, it may not be too soon when people will see Apple invade this tech field.

8. New Devices Will Come Out in the Market

For smartphones, fanboys and tech freaks are already anticipating the release of Apple’s iPhone 5S, which was based on the trend of the iPhone 3, 3GS, 4, and 4S. If the Cupertino tech company devices some new design or concept, rather than improving on inner specs, then we may be expecting the iPhone 6 sometime in October. The Samsung Galaxy SIV is also under wraps and may be unveiled as another game changer, as what has been seen with the dawn of the SIII. PS4 and XBox 720 may also be released within the year, taking advantage of deeper video gaming together with more powerful graphics processors.

7. Data Plans and Contracts will Slowly Deter

In the US and in most parts of the world, telecom services are offering data, calling, and SMS plans at prices that are sometimes considered over the top, especially when it involves a tie up with more expensive gadgets. This is one reason why only the rich are taking benefit of such offers. However, there is a growing trend of purchasing prepaid plans that offer cheaper services for mobile internet, calling, and texting, which will someday opt users to buy unlocked devices and resort to more economic telecom solutions.

6. Apps Will Now Involve Enterprise Levels

Back at the time when the first apps have been launched, it was benefiting the masses that wanted free apps, games, and other applications that make user experience easy and convenient. With such focus, the security for such apps have been kept low, making way for viruses, hacks, and other infiltrations, compromising account information and devices being affected. Now that the world is recognizing the massive use of smartphones and tablets that utilize WiFi and mobile connections, security has also tightened and became stricter, making apps accessible to corporate and enterprise users.

5. The Cloud Will Increase in Expanse

When the cloud was first introduced to the masses, they were delighted with the fact that people can now save their files and other information outside their computers and other tangible devices. Also, doing the same process gives them the access to retrieve their files wherever, whenever, or however they want to, as long as internet connection is available. This year, expect the support to be bigger, wider, and better, with more applications and products using such methods.

4. 3D Printers Will Find Their Way in Business

The idea of printing 3D images with the use of a program and modified plastic has become a reality back in 2012. There was even one person who had gained a slot in Nintendo’s empire for creating Koopa shells with wheels as a remote controlled car, thanks to a 3D printer. With such creations providing wonders, more and more people may be interested of what can be done with such for markets, creators, and even at-home consumers.

3. Flexible Touch Sensors Will be More Exposed Than Ever

If you could recall some of the tech conventions in the last 3 years, you may have seen flexible screens being developed by Nokia, Corning, and other companies. Some have been surprised that you can still see digital images in full integrity even when you bend the flexible glass, while utilizing touch sensors. It would be more like you are using a smartphone that can bend like crazy. If it had been possible with glass, other developments that include metals, plastics, and fiber may also be processed for this coming-of-age technology.

2. Utilization of Internet and Mobile Connections in the Physical World

Some have already seen NFC technologies being used as entry services in railways, transit, and even in movies while others have and there are also moving vehicles that provide free WiFi connections during travel. The business world is looking for more ways to integrate digital innovations and physical presence. For example, with the use of sensors, people can now be connected to internet servers, and mobile phones become gateways to interacting with other services that exists in stores, restaurants, kiosks, and more.

1. Mobile Technology Becomes Even More Mobile

In the recent years, people have seen mobile phones that have pierced through the market. Smartphones such as BlackBerry, Apple, Nokia, Google, LG, HTC, Samsung, and Motorola among others have gained fast-pacing recognition to consumers, thanks to apps that are easily downloaded, providing a whole new experience in mobile technology. Tablet PCs have also changed the game back in 2012. In 2013, expect a whole new age as mobile becomes wearable with wristwatches, buttons, eyeglasses, and even shoes.

Few hours left, and everyone would have their last hurrah for 2012 to welcome another year, the 2013. One of the significant highlights that people anticipate at 12 midnight of January 01, 2013 is when people start gathering as families and friends from different parts of the world, wherein they would simultaneously start lighting specific names of fireworks and other firecrackers. It has been a tradition that started by people in China under the time of Sung Dynasty around 960 to 1279. It came from a simple black powder, which was explosive already because of its mixture of charcoal, saltpeter, and sulfur after placing altogether in a small space. Hence, it was develop more earnestly in Europe in the 14th century whenever they hold victory celebrations, where expert firemakers were first known in the history because they have introduced the pyrotechnic process. Other countries followed and adapted it like Italy, Germany, United States, Canada and others that actively participate in yearly Pyrolympics, which are being held in certain countries like Philippines and England. Let us have a recap of the best top 10 New Year firework displays while waiting to see another creation on sky as we welcome year 2013.

10. Sydney Fireworks in Welcoming 2011

The said fireworks display is being broadcasted by Channel 9 and is also simulcasted on radio by 2DayFM to spread the cheer to the Sydney folks of welcoming 2011 with a bang. Although their fireworks show is centralized on limited parts of the city, you could see that it involved many sections such as bridges, rooftops, skyscrapers, and even barges just to spread the display all throughout. Nothing is better with a fireworks display than seeing it play along with background music coming from Lady Gaga, Kesha, Taio Cruz, and many more.

9. KimDotCom Gift for New Zealand

Ushering in the New Year in New Zealand has always been a normal thing, not until Immigration New Zealand approved the entry of the DotCom family to the country. As a token of thanks for such courtesy to the business, KimDotCom donated $500,000 worth of fireworks, which has been set in many sections of the city. In fact, the said display has been touted one of the biggest to be seen in the country.

8. Towering Fireworks from Burj Khalifa

The Burj Khalifa is known to be one of the tallest buildings known to man, even matching the heights of the old World Trade Center, the Petronas Towers, and even the Shard in London. When it comes to fireworks displays, they say that taller is better and it can never be expressed more emotionally when the people of Dubai welcomed 2012 with a Big Bang coming from the tall skyscraper.

7. Hot Flashes at Taipei 101

You cannot come across Taipei 101 without knowing the capital and the country where it stands. The said towering skyscraper is known to give most of the highlights when celebrating the New Year. In 2008, the Taiwanese people had seen Taipei 101 with hot flashes, colorful bursts, and moving fiery displays that impressed everyone who had beheld its beauty and majesty. And since this tower is the tallest in the capital, families near and far the huge edifice could see what’s happening on the first day of the year.

6. Taipei 101 Welcomes 2012

The excitement upon the people cannot be contained that even the building itself already took the initiative of bursting some fireworks even though the countdown has not been completed yet. You could also hear the masses joining with Taipei 101 in screaming the countdown in welcoming the New Year with a bang. Yellow, purple, red, green, and white flares can be seen coming out of the skyscraper, making it look like a gigantic fire fountain or even a towering explosion of molten magma.

5. Sydney Ushers 2012 with a Bang

From one side of the Sydney harbor to the other end, you could just see the fireworks like there is no tomorrow. Imagine 12 minutes of non-stop artworks bursting in the sky and being favored with music that is exclusively Australian, whether it’s rock, pop, dance, techno, and even ethnic. As expected, the bridge still holds the highlight of the show and it also sets the mood of the awed audience.

4. Booming and Flashing in London 2010

Despite the flashing images guidelines from BBC, you just can’t help but become more anxious with what’s gonna be shown as you can trace the excitement on people’s faces, waiting for the year to be welcomed. You could see “The Eye” emitting streaks of fireworks as it plays together with the banging of the clock coming from Big Ben’s bells in the background. When the bells stopped playing, it was the sign that the shows gonna begin, with The Eye bringing out explosions and fireworks of different kinds, even without the music to jive things up.

3. The Emotional Japanese Fireworks Display

The Japanese, as passionate, as emotional, and as attached as they may be, celebrated the New Year with a different flavor, thanks to the extraordinary display of fireworks, along with moving music. As you watch the spectacular one streak firework flying to the sky, listening to the piano music, it makes you feel kinda nostalgic, as if you are actually involved in an anime series of some kind. But wait? What’s this? An alien was actually enjoying the view and liking what it sees on the skies.

2. Big Ben Celebrates Along in Welcoming 2012

Compared to other years where the New Year event is celebrated in London, Big Ben has been quite active in welcoming 2012. Aside from bells banging the signal of 12 midnight, every bell played also produced fireworks shooting from all sides of the giant clock tower, making its own show. After the Big Ben made its exploding, it’s now the turn of The Eye to put the show on the road. And with welcoming the year when the London Olympics, everything got more colorful, a lot brighter, and a bit nosier thanks to the background music being played.

1. London Sets Ablaze in New Year 2011

With normal tradition in the New Year, Big Ben makes its bells bang 12, indicating the entry of the upcoming year. Everything is a lot different though as The Eye was not making much lights during Big Ben’s alarm. Instead, The Eye was covered with so many fireworks that you could almost see the huge Ferris Wheel disappearing from line of sight. Everything ended up explosive and flashy after the giant clock tower had done its part. Fireworks in the sky, spotlights from below, and spiraling flashes of fire coming from The Eye; everything just went perfect with the sky changing colors and the mood making you feel feverish.

Despite of the modern songs and dances that we hear that become top choices of people around the world, these top 10 greatest Christmas songs of all time would really melt one’s heart because of the unique touch that it provides in every fiber of our soul. They might be classic, and some have been favorite tunes that we hear in most of the Christmas celebrations that we have had. In fact, we are listening to most of them today while busy preparing for the food that we are going to share once the Christmas Eve arrives. There’s nothing that would beat things off, makes a sad heart gladdens, and fill our homes with love because of the joyful messages that these happy Christmas songs bring to us. Read, enjoy, and have a fun-filled Christmas 2012.

10. Frosty the Snowman

It is one of the classic Christmas songs on this list, which was written and recorded in 1950 by Walter “Jack” Rollins, Steve Nelson, the Cass County Boys, and Gene Autry. In fact, it was put into a movie in 1969 through the help of the producer Arthur Rankin and Julie Bass, and the script was drafted by Romeo Muller. It was written based on a snowman that got life after few kids placed a hat on his head that allowed him to play with children. However, he had said that he would comeback soon after a few seasons.

9. Santa Claus Is Coming to Town

It became a Christmas hit upon its released in 1934 of November in after it was first heard on Eddie Cantor’s program. In fact, it sales received and recorded reached 10,000 copies of music the next day after it was played, and over 400,000 on Christmas. It was actually written by Haven Gillespie and J Fred Coots. In fact, just like the Frosty Snowman that had a short animated movie, it also had a TV special in 1970. In fact, it had various versions from orchestra to solo, and the last arrangement of it was made by Mariah Carey in 2005 in her album Rankin/Bass Special. The song tells about how Santa Claus distinguishes if a child has been good or bad and an encouragement to children around the world to be good always.

8. Rockin Around the Christmas Tree

The moment that you hear this voice over this Christmas song, you would guess that it was sung by an old lady. Your hunch is wrong because it was sung by a 13-year old Brenda Lee in 1958 that might be categorized as a country music. It was again released in 1959, and became one of the featured songs in some of the movies and TV shows. It has several versions, and it has a total downloads of 679,000 that was confirmed by Nielsen SoundScan in 2011 that placed this song in 4th rank among the digital singles placed in SoundScan.

7. Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let it Snow!

Let it Snow as a shorter title of it was released in 1945, and it was composed by Jule Styne, while the lyrics of the songs was done by Sammy Chan that became one of the greatest Christmas songs of all time. In fact, whenever there are Christmas parties, and events, it becomes the Christmas anthem because of seasonal lyrics that are really popular among kids, and even adults. It even hit the number one spot on the billboard music in 1946. The original version of it was sung by Woody Herman in 1945, and there are over 20 versions of it that you could check in YouTube because of its popularity.

6. Little Drummer Boy

Who would never remember the Trapp Family Singers that popularized this song in 1955 although this song was written in 1941 by Teacher and a known classic composer of music, Katherine Kennicott Davis? The original title of the song was Carol of the Drum since its composition was actually based on the traditional carol in Czechoslovakia. It has more than 220 versions including the 20th century arrangements of it by different composers and singers. The song talks about a boy who had nothing to offer to the Lord but his drumming.

5. Jingle Bell Rocks

Just like any Christmas songs that you would find on this list, it has several versions of it, but nothing really beats the original as most of the people would exclaim upon hearing and listening to other instrumentations of it. Yes, Bobby Helms who originally sung it in 1945 still holds the title as the most favorite tune of everyone. In fact, this was the first rock ‘n’ roll Christmas song in the history that got the number one ranking twice among the country hits in 1957. The creation of the song came from one of the oldest Christmas songs entitled Jingle Bells.

4. 12 Days of Christmas

When it was published as a Christmas text in 1970 in England, it was actually written in French. It’s one of the favorite Christmas carols being sung by groups or choirs. The song tells about some of the beliefs of the Christian faith. Would you believe that the creation of this song was because of the law implemented in England that none can practice any of the Catholic religious activities whether publicly or privately, since it was considered a crime under their law in 1558 to 1829? It is not actually intended to celebrate Christmas, but it’s a catechism song back then to help young generations learn Catholic faith through simple texts that have symbolism like turtle doves refer to the Old and New Testament. It has several variations as well just like other classic Christmas songs that you can find on this list.

3. All I Want for Christmas Is You

This is the only Christmas song on this list that was released in 1994 of November 01 that undoubtedly became a hit and favorite of people who are in love. This was sung by Mariah Carey, and wrote & composed it as well along with Walter Afanasieff. The message of this song does not focus on the kind of temporal gifts that people usually receives, but a yearning to be united with her love on Christmas holiday. It has received several positive feedback since you can rarely hear modern composition of Christmas songs, since most of the Christmas song list contains the classic ones.

2. Walking in a Winter Wonderland

It is classified as a Pop Christmas type of song that holds its fame still since 1934 when it was released. It was composed by Felix Bernard, and its lyrics were written by Richard B. Smith. You could actually find more than 150 versions of it sung by different artists for the past three decades. The song was written after Richard “Dick” B. Smith saw snow covering the whole Honesdale’s Central Park while he was receiving treatment for his illness Tuberculosis. It is one of the favorite Christmas songs up until now after the recording was made in 1934 by His Royal Canadians, Guy Lombardo, and another popular arrangement of it was done by The Andrew Sisters and Perry Como thereafter.

1. Sleigh Ride

This is the original composition of Leroy Anderson in 1946, but tracing back the history as to how he came-up with this song was really pure accidental. The lyrics were written by Mitchell Parish, and Leroy had done this song because of the heat wave that happened in July of 1946. His intention was to make it an orchestral piece and it was successfully done by the Boston Pops Orchestra after he finished it in 1948. The following year, Mr. Parish wrote the lyrics that tell about the desire of a person to take a sleigh ride on a winter’s day. It has been consistently included in top 10 list of Christmas songs yearly. Now it bagged the number one spot.
