The game world is increasingly becoming popular with more and more fans being initiated in to the circle. Video games have come and gone especially the really scary ones and other games have emerged yet something remains the same. The fun loyalty base still remains unbroken. It is a community with real fans or better still “addicts” of video games. Amazingly they have their own verbal and sign language, their own rules and definitely their very own legends. You would be surprised how loyal these forks are and how many hours a day they spend standing in front of computers, glued to a game. Let’s look at the top ten scary game urban legend of this era:

10. Squall is Dead

Squall is the main character in the Final Fantasy VIII. Most gamers would love to believe the theory that the main protagonist squall dies in the battle with the antagonist Edea at the end of disc one is not true. Since in the scene it shows squall is impaled with ice and falls to the ground, to wake up in a torture room at the beginning of disc two. This makes the players to believe that the rest of the game is based on the Squall dream world. No game can be compared to the Final Fantasy VIII where the storyline revolve around the death of its main character and the plot takes place in outer space.

This is the most elaborate gaming hoax of all times. People spend hours looking for Bigfoot trying to unlock Sheng and looking for Blood Codes. There are stations that broadcast Morse codes, which predict the future. People are keenly waiting to see if the Queen will die on March 19, 2014 and if Britney Spears will win an Oscar in 2023 as predicted in the game. The thing which make the story interesting is the two messages which must been created a year ago, detailed the events that happen before the game was released.

Earthbound is also known as “mother” in Japan. The experience is with the characters and levels that appear in Super Smash Bros. in the game. In order to kill the final boss, which is an alien character, they have to perform an abortion, where they travel back in time when the Giygas are weak. Kids have their souls reaped off their bodies and put into the robots. The final boss which is an alien have the agenda to destroy the world and the battle to destroy it is through an abortion.

7. Herobrine

This is a great game, simple for any one to play. Players of Herobrine claim that some threatening things appear on their maps as they play the game. They claim that when playing the game everything appeared normal but as they started chopping the trees down they noticed something moving in the dense fog. A cow by any other name is still a cow. Weirdly as they pursed, it was another character with no eyes and with default skin that appeared. He looks at players and run into the fog. You may wonder what other people’s experience with Herobrine is.

Born form the popular web game 4chan, Haunted Majora’s Mask has became one of the popular games. It regarded as one of the scariest games in the history of all time. Make sure you read the story.

This has been regarded as one of the best games by most video games fans. It has an option of adding players, customizing quests, weapons, and armor. Word has it that there is a negative side to a Morrowind Mod that can potentially drive players insane and increase nervous tension. The game begins in a weird setting with all the characters in the game dead. Players are also not supposed to stand in one position for long as the ‘assassin’ appears and takes over from no where. Players have complained about having headaches and hallucinations after playing the game for long hours. They also alleged seeing the assassin in their homes or bathrooms. This is a scary game that still exists shockingly.

4. Killswitch

This is a third person video game in the horror genre that was created by Soviet gaming company Karvina Corporation in 1989. It’s scary as they come. It was very popular, especially among the soviet gamers. A player had to choose either a girl or an invisible demon. Players then had to navigate a mine fighting demons and coal monsters. Surprisingly, no one ever completed the game with the demon because all traces of the game were deleted from the player’s hard drive upon defeating the demon. Talk about ghost games. In 2005, a copy of the deleted edition of the game was later found on eBay and purchased by a Japanese man called Yamamoto Ryuichi. Little is known of the existence of the game.

3. Lavender Town Syndrome

Pokemon was first released in Japan back in 1996 but suffered a negative publicity when children between the ages of 7-12 years became ill and committed suicide after playing the game, creepy. Apparently the children only committed suicide after the children reached Lavender Town where there was a theme song only the children and young teens could understand. The programmers fixed the video theme song frequency which caused negative effects where the second generation game made things normal.

The players have to avoid being killed by shots, a running robot or running into an exploding robot or coming into contact with an electric maze wall. A player can also be killed by being touched by an enemy. Other clones have come up in the market like the talking android attack and robot attack.

1. Polybius

This is one game that made players go totally insane and I mean “literally insane.” It is an arcade game that is featured in the urban myths. It was released to the public in 1981 but caused so many negative effects with players suffering from paranoia, nervous tension, and nightmare and even caused suicidal tendencies in some players. Just shortly after its release, it disappeared without a trace, weird. It is alleged to have been a government experiment. It has been featured in some TV program like the Simpsons. It is a legend and a mystery for sure.
