Aliens, extraterrestrials, unidentified flying objects are few of the terms we call a scientific phenomenon that came on the face of the earth since 1947, when an unidentified flying object crashed in Roswell, Georgia. Many decades later, we still wonder if there are other creatures inhabiting the universe. The aliens have arrived and they are here to stay as long as we have creative directors, screenwriters, and cinematographers who dedicate their time in producing, directing, and creating movies about them. It has been sixty-six years since the Roswell U.F.O. Incident. 10. The Thing (1982)

This top alien movie centers on a dog mutating after it has been killed in an explosion. A scientific research team is posted in Antarctica to find themselves fighting with a parasitic alien organism who can copy the form of its victims. Released in the early 80’s, the thing introduces us to a dangerous organism and makes us hold on to our chairs on the rest of the movie.

9. Predator (2010)

This alien predator movie is about a mercenary, a military, a soldier, a criminal, a militia, a drug lord and a Yakuza member finding themselves in unfamiliar territory, discovering that they are no longer on Earth and are prey to aliens. In this deadly hunting game, they have no choice but to be as one and unite in destroying their predators for a chance at survival.

8. Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977)

A power outage prompts a cableman to investigate the cause of the problem. In the course of his investigation, his truck gives up on him and he is enveloped by a light from above. He is subsequently haunted by the experience and becomes obsessed in finding out what it means. Around him, same things happen, and at the same time, government agents discover evidence of inhabitants from other planets in the form of reappearing missing military vehicles that have been said to be lost for decades or so. Together with the government, Neary follows the clues that are left for them to reach the destination of another encounter of the third kind that makes it as one of the best alien movies of all time.

7. War of the Worlds (2005)

6. Mars Attacks (1996)

What started out to be a normal day for all of  USA was disrupted when the  President of the United States of America make it known to all that there are Martians spotted circling the earth. Looking to make peace with the Martians, a meeting was arranged, but the Martians decide to attack our planet with the use of their powers and technologically advanced weapons. A group of people with different invested interests come together and try their best to survive the worst alien attack on the planet which ranked it as one of the best alien movies ever recorded.

5. District 9 (2009)

District 9 is a government camp that houses the aliens that were found inside the ship that was hovering on Johannesburg some ten years in the past. The found aliens were referred to by the people near District 9 as “prawns.” As time passed, patience for the “prawns” worn out and the government decides to evict them off District 9. The government contracted a private company who showed less regard to the alien’s welfare to do the task. A member of the operative, in his attempt to evict some of the aliens, grew ill and found himself being friends with the prawns he was tasked to eliminate. In his struggle to live, Wikus finds a friend in the aliens who everyone thought were just additional burden to the government, making it as one of the exciting and interesting alien films.

4. Men in Black

This trilogy showcases the lives of undercover agents Jay and Kay who is set to battle the grumpiest, maddest, meanest alien creatures that ever walked the planet. Jay and Kay’s relationship as partners grew deeper as years go by. In Jay’s attempt to undo what has already been done and to bring back his partner Kay, Jay discovers that he has met Kay long before he joined the force.

3. Independence Day

Two days short of Independence Day, a bizarre signal that would turn out to be a global occurrence was discovered. The world would later find out that these signals came from aliens aboard spaceships set at destroying our planet. The President of the               United States decide to head to Area 51, a government testing ground for terrestrial life, and entrusts the fate of humankind to a handful band of determined survivors. This is indeed a top alien movie, but it’s all about patriotism and support to the country’s freedom.

2. E.T. (1982)

It is one of the best alien films that focuses on a group of alien botanists visiting Earth, but was frightened away by an approaching human task force. One of them was left behind and is stranded on this planet. A ten-year-old boy, Elliot, finds the alien and brings him home. Not long after, the two found a way to communicate and build an extraordinary friendship. E.T. discovers life on earth with the help of Elliot, realizing the true definition of what being friends are for. Yet Elliott is faced with a dilemma when E.T. decides he wants to go home as he knows that he will lose his best friend if he helps the alien to go back to the planet where he truly belongs.

1. Alien (1979)

This is the best alien movie of all time, which is about a crew of the commercial spaceship Nostromo receiving what was supposed to be an SOS call from a system they are passing through from a deep-space mission. They discover that the source of a transmission is another spaceship. One of the crew goes down and finds thousands of strange alien eggs. The egg hatches and the parasite attack the crew. Seeing that all is well, the crew returns to Nostromo and heads for planet Earth. The parasite that attacked the crew later dies but unknown to the crew, there is another alien quietly growing within its host.
