10.James Brown -“Living in America”
James Brown was known as one of the main founding fathers of funk music. In the 20th century he was extremely popular and considered to be a major figure in dance and music. Many often times refer to him as “The Godfather of Soul”. His music career actually spanned in time over 6 decades. One of his most famous songs was Living in America.

9. Don McLean – “American Pie”
What would the 4th be like without hearing this song at least one time on the radio during this holiday? Vincent is another known song by Don McLean. I don’t know about you but seriously, this does make me want to have some pie whenever I hear it. Is this song on your always list when the 4th comes around?

8.Toby Keith – “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue
Back in 2001 Keith’s father had died. This song was inspired by his dad. He released it on the same year. This quickly became one of his biggest solo hits ever. It reached the top of the charts fast. He first wasn’t going to release the song and only was singing it live to his fans at concerts but then decided too after the reaction he received from it.

7.Joan Jett -“I Love Rock n’ Roll”
I know that there are other versions of this song but this one is my favorite. I don’t know why I like the way Joan Jett sings it so much, but I do. What’s your favorite “I Love Rock n Roll” version? Joan Jett also just so happens to be one of my 80’s singers. Maybe that’s why I am more keen on her version of this song. Britney Spears sings it as well but she’s in no comparison to Joan Jett.

6.John Mellencamp -“R.O.C.K. in the U.S.A.”
I love this song because it’s fast and upbeat. It’s perfect for that 4th of July party. Maybe it’s even awesome for a fireworks display. Sadly, I don’t hear it enough compared to a lot of the other 4th of July songs. I am not sure as to why as I think this song is even better then some of the current patriotic songs.

5.Kim Wilde – Kids in America Lyrics
This was released in the UK but then later it was released in the USA in 1982. A lot of artists have actually performed this song but I really love the way Kim Wilde sings it. There’s also been a lot of remixes done on this song. It’s been heard in some tv shows and movies. Here’s another great song to play in the background at a 4th of July party, especially if there’s lots of kids around.

4.Neil Diamond – America/Coming to America
This song will really get to you in a lot of ways. At least, it does to me. The imagery in this song is just amazing to me compared to some of the other songs. You can really feel his emotions in it. If you’ve never heard of this song before then I highly recommend it. You’ll be blown away at how powerful this song is and you might even get goosebumps from it.

3.Lenny Kravitz – American Woman
Maybe you won’t hear this song when the fireworks are playing but you have a high chance of hearing it at least once during your holiday break. I love this song and I love Lenny and I love the 4th. So, I think that this song is perfect during the 4th of July. If I had my way, I would play this during a fireworks display just because it’s so awesome.

2.Miley Cyrus – Party in the U.S.A.
This maybe one of the most famous songs Miley ever recorded. No matter if you like this song or not, you are bound to hear it at least one time over this holiday. I admit that it’s not one of my favorite patriotic songs out there but others love it. I also hear this as a ring tune a lot when I’m out in the stores. Personally, I would still go back to Joan Jett and listen to her songs instead of this one. Maybe that’s just reflecting my age.

1.Lee Greenwood – God Bless The U.S.A.
I know this song is one of those already knows by now. However, I just had to add it in on the number one spot. It’s one of my favorites. I think almost every fireworks display show does this song in the background at some point. I get goosebumps every time I hear it. If you ever make it to Stone Mountain, Atlanta Ga then you’ll hear this song when they do their light show at the end of the day. I highly recommend watching it and visiting Stone Mountain if you’ve never been there.

Conclusion
Have a wonderful 4th of July everyone!
