I don’t know about you but there are times when I just love to read. I like getting lost in a good book. I also really enjoy reading a good book on rainy days. It’s Heaven to me being able to escape with a good book and listen to the rain pouring down. Suddenly, for the time that you’re reading you have no worries. Life is just perfect when you’re reading. If you’re a book nerd like I am then you will understand these 10 struggles.

10. Makes quotes that no one else understands
There are times when someone says something and suddenly you remember a quote in the book. It is perfect for that conversation. However, you say it and no one else gets it or either it goes right over them. There’s nothing more annoying than having everyone just look at you with a blank look and not have a clue as to what you’re talking about with the quote. Maybe it’s just time to get some new friends.

9. Dressing up as a book character on Halloween and no one gets it
Sure, everyone gets the famous Harry Potter but what if you want to dress up as someone different. Maybe next Halloween to avoid confusion you should just dress up as a book worm. Your friends should get it. Next to Harry Potter other famous book characters include Peter Pan, the Mad Hatter, Katniss Everdeen, Maleficent and Bella. However, what if you want to dress up as Elizabeth Bennett from Pride and Prejudice or better yet, what about Sherlock Holmes? Go ahead and be different from everyone else. You never know it could be the one that wins that special prize at the Halloween party for being unique.

8. You’re the only one who likes book signings or midnight book releases
You’re the only one it seems that really enjoys book signings or those midnight book releases. None of your other friends seems to notice or care about the book signing that’s going on. What about when that book you’ve been waiting to have comes out at midnight? You find yourself doing everything you can to stay awake for it and might even make an excuse to not go to school or work the next day so you can read the new book or either catch up on sleep.

7. You told everyone that you’d be just only a few minutes at the bookstore
You’re with your friends or family. You promised you would just stop in at the bookstore for only a few minutes. Everyone else goes and gets coffee or goes shopping. Maybe they just hang out waiting for you. They come back and can’t find you anywhere in the bookstore. That’s because you’re in a corner reading a book that you just can’t put down. You want so bad to finish the book there because you don’t have enough money to buy it. You find yourself asking, come on – please just a few more minutes. You might have to call for a taxi to pick you up.

6. The annoying feeling when friends borrow books and then never return them
You were extremely excited to let your friend borrow that book so the two of you could have something to talk about together. Maybe you were even unsure about letting your friend borrow it. Either way, your friend has not returned the book. You want to call them but at the same time don’t want to discourage them from reading. After a couple of months, you just decide that maybe you shouldn’t be friends with them anymore.

5. You give a book as a gift to your friend and they look disappointed
It’s your favorite book in the world. Surely, everyone else must love the book as much as you like it. Your friend’s birthday is coming up. You think you have the best gift for them in the world and that is to give them your favorite book. They open up the gift that you give them and right away they look disappointed making you want to run or hide.

4. You bite your tongue when people say they will just wait for the movie

We all know that 100% of the time the book is way better. You can’t put everything in a movie that’s in the book. Not to mention they tend to change things in movies. You wanted so bad for your friend to read the Hunger Games with you but no. They would rather see Jennifer Lawrence instead of reading the book. Go ahead, bite your tongue. I understand.

3. People tease you when you want to read all day
Maybe this is one of the most famous struggles us book nerds have in common. We all get teased when we want to stay home and read a book all day. Outside the weather is perfect. It’s sunny and all of your friends seem to be out except for you. Maybe this was the book you stayed up for and got at the midnight release. Enjoy that book. You deserve some time out for yourself.

2. People think you’ve been busy but you’ve been reading all day
Your friends all think you’ve been extremely busy doing errands. Secretly, you’ve been reading and haven’t done anything. They would never believe you if you try to tell them that you’ve been reading all day. It’s perfectly fine for them to not know you’ve been reading. However, your friends might want to why you’ve been so busy that you don’t even have time to answer the phone or respond to their text message.

1. Your friends want to catch up but you only can talk about the book
Your friends seem to be going on about their life and how awesome their life is right now. Your friends ask what you’ve been doing and you find yourself instead of talking about your life, you have to inform them of the new book you’re reading. After all, your life is that book right now. Surely, they understand.
